PAKTURK International Schools and Colleges have been striving hard to provide superior education to Pakistani youth since 1995. Along with other activities PAKTURK pays special consideration to the subjects which are measured to be boring and tedious. One of such subjects is Mathematics.
In order to provoke interest among the students, PAKTURK International Schools and Colleges have been arranging Inter Schools Mathematics Olympiads (ISMO) for the last 13 years. Educationists have the point of view that there are not enough chances for our student to exhibit their talent to the world. There is an immense need of such programs for our brilliant youth. This unique competition provides a great chance for the students of class 5, 6, 7 and 8 to show their incredible potential and win handsome prizes. This competition was open for the students of Government Schools as well as for private schools.
13th edition of much awaited annual event National ISMO (Inter Schools Mathematics Olympiad) observed the participation of 11,823 students with the cooperation of Pakistan Science Foundation. Show-case event of PakTurk was held on November 25th, 2017, in 32 centers, located in 19 cities of Pakistan (Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Kohat, Quetta, Karachi, Multan, Khairpur Mirs, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Larkana, Dadu, Sukkur, Pannu Aaqil, Mehrabpur, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur & Rawalakot), simultaneously where the same exam papers were held at same time in these venues. The participants were the students of grade 5th to 8th, both from public as well as private institutions, who competed in this unique Olympiad which is aimed at imparting interest in Mathematics education.
Dr. Muhammad Ayub Alvi, The Rector FAST University was the chief guest of the prestigious occasion and he distributed cash awards to the national and regional winners of the competition. The cash prizes for the first three positions were Rs. 40,000, 30,000 and 20,000 respectively for class 5, 6, 7 and class 8 categories. Moreover, top 10 position holders in each city got attractive cash prizes. The total cash money award was approximately Rs. 3 Million. It is worth mentioning here that top position holder of class 8 category is awarded with the title of “Al-Khwarizmi of Pakistan” which will remain with that student for the period of one year.
The Chief Guest appreciated the unprecedented effort of PAK TURK Schools & Colleges for enhancing the education standard and especially in Mathematic discipline.
In the coming year, ISMO will be arranged on national level where participation of more than 15,000 students is expected.
