Prize distribution ceremony of the 12th edition of Pakistan’s Largest Inter-School Mathematics Olympiad, ISMO, was held on 14th February 2017 at the auditorium of PakTurk International Schools & Colleges Boys Branch Chak Shehzad Islamabad. Renowned Scientist and Educationist Dr. Samar Mubarakmand was the chief guest of the occasion who distributed the certificates, plaques and cash prizes among the top position holders.
The largest Math Olympiad of Pakistan ‘ISMO’ is organized by PakTurk International Schools and Colleges every year. Started back in 2005, this competition has entered into its 12th year. Students from class 5 to 8 from public and private schools of Pakistan participate in this contest. A total cash prize of more than Rs. 2 million is distributed among the best performers on regional and national level.
12th edition of much awaited annual event National ISMO (Inter Schools Mathematics Olympiad) saw the participation of 11589 students. The showcase event of PakTurk was held in 22 centers, located in 14 cities of Pakistan simultaneously where the exam papers were held at same time in these venues.
In his welcome address, the member board of governors Mr. Murataza Ali Shah thanked the worthy chief guest for gracing the occasion. He informed the audience about untiring efforts of PakTurk International Schools & Colleges for improving the quality of education in the country.
Director Education PakTurk, Syed Israr Ali informed the audience about the planning, conduct, analysis and results of ISMO. He expressed his hope that this national event will become an international event in the coming years. He also thanked Pakistan Science Foundation for their support to make ISMO a successful competition.
In his address, the Chief Guest Dr. Samar Mubarakmand congratulated the organizers of the contest for successful event. He also shared his success story that provided strong defense against all enemies. He expressed his hope to see Pakistani students working hard to bring good name to the nation.
The chief guest distributed attractive cash prizes, plaques and certificates among the top ten students of Islamabad region and top 3 students of national rounds. The top position holder of grade 8 was awarded withy the title of “Al-Khwarizmi of Pakistan” which will remain with that student for the period of one year.
Students, teachers, heads of educational institutions, educationists and parents of students were also present in award distribution ceremony.
